EMT
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course prepares students to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages, addressing a wide range of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Topics include EMS systems, EMT roles and responsibilities, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, patient transportation, and prehospital special considerations.

Methods:
Blended instructor-led and online learning includes assigned readings, presentations, discussions, simulated emergencies, lab exercises, case studies, and class activities. Evaluation includes skills exams, written tests, and assignments.

– Apply personal and patient safety principles.
– Function within medical-legal, ethical, and scope-of-practice guidelines.
– Use anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and communication skills in patient care.
– Perform immediate lifesaving interventions for airway, breathing, and circulation.
– Assess and manage patients of all ages with diverse medical and trauma conditions.
– Apply EMS operational principles in transportation, multiple casualty incidents, extrications, hazardous materials, and weapons of mass destruction scenarios.
